Haven't met a person yet who doesn't think the experience in lower is superior to the experience in upper. I wouldn't waste a moment of time with a tour in upper to be very frank. Through Kens tour anyways - they offer the 2 hour roam-solo photo pass, the other guys don't. That's rapidly becoming rare and will never happen in upper. A year or so ago, on non-peak periods, there were times, perhaps 5-10 minutes in duration, where you could be alone (!!) in the area you were working. Given the crowds at upper, you won't get much of anything.īTW, Lower doesn't require any scheduling at all - just show up (and it's a morning slot, so that means 8am), pay the 50 bucks photo pass fee with your tripod in hand (tripod and DSLR mandatory) and you get two hours to roam on your own. Unfortunately, lower is quickly getting that way as well, which is a shame, because even at this time of year, with a tripod, you can get nice shots down there and while many photograph it, it just means you have to look beyond what others have done. I have no use for upper - it's not workable, hasn't been for years, no matter what tour you're on. I have done lower a fair bit the past 4 years.
